Saurashtra region covering population about 10 million, is known to have high incidence of kidney problems. There were two kidney hospital in Gujarat, Ahmedabad & Nadiad. It was observed that more than 50 parent of patients at these two hospitals belonged to specialized kidney hospital was evident.Dr. Pradip Kansagra, remain practicing urologist at Rajkot perceived the idea and shared with few friends. His noble idea was accepted by the philanthropic industrialist of Rajkot.care group these people consisting of Late. Shree Devjibhai Patel, Dr. Pradip Kansagra, Shree Rameshbhai Patel, Shree Jayantibhai Faldu and Dr. Vivek Joshi founded and formed registered charitable trust SAURASHTRA KIDNEY RESEARCH INSTITUTE.

Late. Shree Devjibhai Patel was unanimously elected as first chairman of the trust. It was decided to build an ultramodern kidney hospital providing complete comprehensive treatment for all kidney ailments under one roof. It was also decided that the missing of the new hospital will be to “Provide quality care at an affordable price”.It was also decided that quality of care including operations, dialysis etc. will be such that patients from saurashtra need not have to go other places.The idea of such hospital received overwhelming support from the society and donations started flowing.

Late. Shree Bhagwanjibhai T. Savani from Kenya generously donated Rs. ONE CRORE to lead it from first and hence the name B.T. Savani Kidney Hospital efforts of Dr. Pradip Kansagra and Government of India, especially with the help by Shree Keshubhai Patel & Shree Vajubhai Vala. One Acre of land was allotted by Government of Gujarat at token. Construction started in late 1998 and completed by December 2002. B.T. Savani Kidney Hospital was inaugurated in February 2, 2003. Other philanthropic people subsequently joined the group as trustee. Notable being Late Shree Harsukhbhai Kamdar from Malaysia, Late Shree Lakhabhai Kadwani, Shree Chandrakantbhai Patel. Combined efforts by all, the hospital progressed rapidly and soon became known not only in saurashtra but also all over Gujarat & India.

Along with the growth of hospital other areas like prevention, academics etc. also flourished. GNM Nursing School, DNB (Urology), CCDT course and DMLT courses are few of them. Unfortunately some of the pioneers of the Board of Trustees left for heavenly abort. Shree Devjibhai Patel, Shree Lakhabhai Kadwani, Shree Harsukhbhai Kamdar were replaced by Shree Arunbhai Patel, Shree Prahladbhai Patel Shree Suryakantbhai Patel & Shree Mauleshbhai Ukani.

Saurashtra Kidney Research Institute presents under the chairmanship of Shree Jayantibhai Faldu is striving hard to put the institute for the front of kidney care in the world.New building with nursing hostel carpet area & auditorium is ready to unveil. To new Class-100 operation theatre dedicated to kidney transplantation are also almost ready. We are ready to start kidney transplant in near future.
